Direct-Sale Reselling
A Direct Reseller Account is one in which your company sends StepForth
a pre-arranged sales lead. In this case, you will have already “sold” the
client on StepForth services. We pay Direct Sale Reseller Accounts a
10% commission on all packages [on the total fee minus any 3rd party
costs] for the initial contract. Please note that this does not provide a commission on all future services for that client unless otherwise negotiated with StepForth.
The Contract Process
The contract-to-completion process for Direct Sale Reseller Accounts
generally follows these steps:
- Consultation between your office and the potential client
» The potential
client will come to you seeking a solution. You recommend us and explain
to the potential client how our services work. The
potential client leaves with all-important StepForth contact information.
- Client
contacts StepForth, generally with their own Request for Proposal (RFP)
» At this point,
StepForth assumes responsibility for communications with the client.
We will have a proposal Emailed to the client within
72 hours of the original RFP.
- If Potential Client becomes a Client
» StepForth pays
reseller commissions based on the times we receive payment for our
services. StepForth charges deposit upfront. If we
convert the
contact to a client, StepForth will immediately pay out ½ of
the reseller commission. We will pay out the other ½ upon reception
of final payment.
- Reporting and Communications
» All reports and communications will be conducted directly between
StepForth and the client. In certain circumstances, the client may
request StepForth
forward specific or general communications to your company for auditing
and diligence purposes.
Technical Requirements
- Direct-Sale accounts require very little intervention from
the reselling agency.
» Once contact is established, we are most often able to deal with
the client on a one-to-one basis.
» If your agency was involved in the design or development of the website,
please provide as much information about the site as possible.
» StepForth’s
process often requires minor modifications to the website to enhance
or maintain rankings. If the site is hosted on your
server and FTP usernames and passwords change during the course of
the promotion, please notify StepForth as soon as possible.
- Submissions,
Standards and Maintenance
» In a perfect world, once StepForth has finished optimization on a
specific web page, that page must remain modified for the duration
of the promotion
campaign. This is of course not always possible… If you know
changes will be necessary or are normally of frequent occurrence, please
inform StepForth so we can build website changes into our optimization
plan and cost proposal.
» Often clients will try an automated website submission service before
committing to a more expensive optimization package. If your client has
used automated submission services in the past, please tell your StepForth
representative and provide as much information as possible.
Direct-Sale Commission Details
- Commission payment is made in synchronization with StepForth’s
payment from the Client.
» As StepForth receives a deposit upfront, a Direct-Sale Reseller can
expect a payment of 50% of their full commission as soon as we have processed
the deposit.
» The remainder of the commission will be paid out on completion of the
contract, or as payment is received by StepForth. For instance, some
contracts split the final billing into two payments. In similar circumstances,
you can request a proportional amount of your commission be paid as our
billings are received or you can wait until the final commission is available.
» Commissions do not apply to monthly maintenance fees unless an annual
contract was signed. In these cases, your commission for monthly maintenance
is factored into your overall commission. The commissions for annual
contracts are shown in the included Reseller Service Sheet.
» Commissions do not apply for any future contracts unless otherwise negotiated with StepForth. Such negotations must be agreed to via a specific contract. Informal agreements via email are not applicable.
Basic Technical Requirements for all Contracts
In order to insure a successful promotion, StepForth requires the
following basic conditions be met:
FTP Access
» If possible,
StepForth should have FTP access to the host server. If FTP access
is not possible, StepForth must have a contact person responsible
for posting to the host server.
Site Modifications
» StepForth must have permission to make modifications to various elements
of the website. (Please note, no major modifications or text changes
will be posted without client permission).
» Once StepForth has finished optimizing and submitting the website,
no changes or modifications can be made without StepForth’s authorization.
If circumstances necessitate frequent changes or modifications to the
website, StepForth will need to bill extra hours into the contract.
Submission
Fees
» All search engine submission fees must be paid upfront before StepForth
accepts charge for these fees. At this time the only search engine submitted to is the Yahoo! Directory.
» We prefer to use the client’s credit card number for all submissions.
If this is possible please notify us so that we will reduce the package
price accordingly (removing all paid submission fees).
